Ifit is not treated, dehydration can develop into a serious problem. Anyone can become dehydrated, but the condition can be especially dangerous for young children and older adults. In children, the most common cause of dehydration is severe diarrhea. Older adults naturally have a lower level of water in their bodies, and many take medications that increase urination and, therefore, they raise the risk of dehydration. While flu recovery time can vary, it usually lasts between three and seven days; however, without proper hydration, symptoms may last longer. Solving the problem Ifyou notice any of the warning signs of dehydration, it is important to replace the fluid your body lacks. Proper rehydration means more than just replacing the water your body has lost. Your body also needs electrolytes, substances help us retain fluid and are necessary for nerve and muscle function. An excellent way to replace these elements is with a specially designed rehydration product such as Hydralyte®. Hydralyte is scientifically formulated with the right ratio of glucose and electrolytes to rehydrate you faster than water alone, and Hydralyte‘ special formula enables fluids to enter the bloodstrear easily. Hydralyte comes in several forms that can be mixed with water to create an oral rehydration solution that contains 75% less sugar and four times the electrolytes as sports drinks. It tastes great, dissolves quickly, and provides the hydration your body needs. FALL/WINTER | 2022 7
