The months leading up to harvest can present many challenges for Western Canadian farmers, including unseasonably high temperatures in the summer months, rising costs and supply chain issues. Considering these are things you can't control, Co-op has three recommendations to help stabilize your budget and stay ahead of evolving market conditions: Budgeting and financing programs. There are a variety of programs for farmers that support budgeting and financing needs. For example residential home heating with propane can be administered through Co-op Equalized Payment Program for propane, which allows for consistent monthly bills for annual consumption over an 11-month period Co-op's farm customers can also access the FCC financing program—open loans on any agricultural input, including propane, over an 18-month period. For more information about this, contact your local Co-op. Secure product and storage early. Global events can apply pressure to almost every facet of every supply chain, causing increased costs and delayed timelines. The propane industry is not immune to supply chain challenges Co-op recommends farmers secure product and storage requirements before harvest to reduce delays.
