Most of us are careful about caring for our skin in the summer, but many of us may not realize that skin is driest in the winter. Signs of dry skin to watch for include: skin tightness, especially after bathing or showering skin that appears shrunken or dehydrated skin that feels rough itching that is sometimes intense flaking, scaling, or peeling skin fine lines or cracks in the skin skin redness Here are some steps you can take to help keep your skin moist and healthy: +_moisturizing your skin several times a day, especially after bathing + _choosing cosmetics that contain moisturizers +_limiting baths and showers to no more than ten minutes *_using warn water rather than hot when bathing and showering + _avoiding soaps that are harsh and dry the skin +_using an indoor humidifier to add moisture to the air +_covering your skin as much as possible when outdoors in cold weather 20 FALL/AWINTER | 2022 Winter CIE If your winter fun plans include a destination vacation, you should prepare ahead of time for a safe, healthy trip. Also write down the names and strengths of all the medicines you take and carry it with you in case you lose your medications while you are away.
